Jeremy J. Hourihan
Biography
Jeremy Hourihan focuses his practice on civil and commercial litigation, personal injury cases, and municipal law. In addition to his private practice work, Jeremy has broad experience as a municipal attorney, and as a prosecutor.
Jeremy was born and raised in Elmira, NY, and started his career as an Associate attorney with Davidson & O’Mara, P.C., and then Barclay Damon, LLP. In those roles, Jeremy was responsible for managing a civil litigation case load from inception through appeal. His responsibilities included legal research, drafting motions, conducting depositions, and developing and implementing litigation, discovery, settlement, and trial strategies. Jeremy has tried dozens of jury and non-jury trials in both federal and state courts, and argued appeals in New York’s 3rd and 4th Departments, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
Jeremy has wide-ranging experience as a municipal attorney after previously serving as Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Elmira, and Assistant County Attorney for Chemung County. In those roles, Jeremy worked extensively on Land Use and Zoning Laws, and Labor and Employment Laws including contract negotiation. Jeremy continues to act as legal counsel to various municipalities and assists clients in navigating local laws and obtaining use and area variances.

- Successfully argued multiple cases at the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit
- Dismissal on Summary Judgment of gender discrimination case against a municipality and police department
- Dismissal of many cases involving claims of negligence via Summary Judgment
- Successfully argued many cases at the Appellate Division, 3rd and 4th Departments
- Achieved many favorable settlements for clients who have suffered personal injuries
